WOVO – the World Organisation of Volcano Observatories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The World Organisation of Volcano Observatories (WOVO) is a network of – and for – volcano observatories worldwide<\/strong>. Members are institutions engaged in volcano monitoring, particularly those with a formal mandate to provide scientific advisory to authorities and\/or warning the public about hazardous volcanic activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The objectives of WOVO are to connect<\/strong>, support<\/strong>, and advocate for its members<\/strong>. To achieve its goals, WOVO has three core programmes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OUR 3 CORE PROGRAMMES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Volcano Observatory Best Practices (VOBP)<\/a> <\/strong>conducts periodic international workshops that convene staff from global observatories to exchange experiences and propose recommendations for optimising operational efficiency and responding effectively to volcanic eruptions and unrest. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

WOVOdat<\/a> <\/strong>is a comprehensive global database on volcanic unrest, designed to investigate pre-eruptive processes and, ultimately, enhance our eruption forecasting capabilities. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

The Volcanic Ash and Aviation Hazards (VAAH) <\/a><\/strong>programme where WOVO represents and advocates for observatories within the aviation and meteorological communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
